#sneakpeek NEW Folkore Fabrics photo shoot images

By lisawato / March 20, 2017 / Comments Off on #sneakpeek NEW Folkore Fabrics photo shoot images

It’s so exciting to see the first images of my Folklore Fabrics taken recently at a Derbyshire farmhouse in the Peak District. My Folklore collection is new for 2017 and is inspired by traditional universal patterns. These 2 metre and 60 cm cotton fabric lengths are woven with care in Lancashire to the highest British weaving standards, to then be used in the home, as perhaps a cosy throw, or a decorative tablecloth, or maybe a beach wrap, it’s up to you the individual to decide as these cloths are multi functional. All Folklore Fabric designs are available in several glorious colourways.

I wished to show off all the beautiful designs and colourways of my Folklore Fabrics being used within a beautiful setting. Luckily I have some v.generous friends who came to my assistance for this photo shoot. This idyllic farmhouse recently renovated is currently on sale. It’s only 10 minutes drive from the charming market town of Macclesfield, yet is also in the beautifully rugged Peak District.

Incidentally, these images and the majority of my fabulous photos are taken by the talented wedding photographer; Jo Bradbury

More delicious Folklore Fabric images to follow shortly…In the meantime, all of my distinctly British quilts, cushions & more for your home are not only made to last, they are functional as well as beautiful. And if you need any excuse to purchase an extra special gift, Easter is just around the corner…http://www.shop.quiltsbylisawatson.co.uk/

Did you know I stitch one of a kind bespoke quilt commissions?

By lisawato / February 15, 2017 / Comments Off on Did you know I stitch one of a kind bespoke quilt commissions?

I have been keeping myself busy to avoid the Winter blues. I’m now looking onward to Spring and in the meantime keeping myself distracted by stitching…a wedding dress quilt commission. One off quilt commissions are always welcome. If you wish me to make you a quilt from cherished old clothes, or from your own special stash of fabric, I can work with you to design a quilt to the size&style that fits you&your home. I can also stitch a quilt (-floor cushion-tent-laptop cover-you decide) as a special gift to celebrate a significant event, or I can make a personalised quilt just for you or for a loved one.

Visit my commissions page for ideas and get in touch with me to discuss your quilt commission further.

Lagom?

By lisawato / January 30, 2017 / Comments Off on Lagom?

Lagom (pronounced [?l?????m]) is a Swedish word meaning “just the right amount”. The Lexin Swedish-English dictionary defines lagom as “enough, sufficient, adequate, just right”. Lagom is also widely translated as “in moderation”, “in balance”, “perfect-simple”, and “suitable” (in matter of amounts).

A couple of weeks ago whilst exhibiting at Top Drawer I had the next stand to Madeleine, a charming swede who lives on the Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, as you do and as well as working in a local weaving mill produces covetable knitwear via Verisimilitude. During the three days of the show we had more than a few interesting discussions including one on

Spring hygge

which I blogged about last spring and Madeleine also introduced me to the swedish word Lagom…’just the right amount’

I don’t know if we have all reached peak hygge now. Personally I don’t think you can never have enough cosiness for your home, which is why I make distinctly British quilts, cushions and more… However, I am drawn to the appeal of Lagom since it also reflects my own wish to make quality goods made to last, as well as create designs that are just right for the modern home. Take a look…
