Summertime and the livin’ is easy…Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high…
Here is a cheery image of Rachel with her 80th birthday celebratory summertime quilt
Tom, who lives and works in Tokyo, wished me to stitch a birthday quilt for his ma, that combined his Japanese family and his mother’s family life and personal design aesthetics. The resulting patchwork quilt includes: Japanese, Welsh, Indian and Made in GB cotton fabrics in a pinwheel patchwork within a grid design. Making these patterns and colours work together was off course a challenge, but they do harmonise. Having this quilt long arm quilted with a rosemary motif (as mentioned, primarily associated with remembrance, love, fidelity and eternal life) by the talented Deborah from Dastardly Line, also brought harmony to this truly bespoke and unique patchwork commission for Rachel.
Some of the fabrics in Rachel’s quilt are from Merchant and Mills, who currently have an anniversary offer to win £100 M&M gift voucher, so if you are a sewer too, this might tempt you…
