Hi Lisa, I've attached the photo of my great-grandparents Martha and William Evans. Sorry it's not better quality, I think it's a clipping from a newspaper. The picture was taken on the front porch of their house in Crum, West Virginia (which is on the border of West Virginia and Kentucky). They both died around 1975 so the quilt was definitely made before then and given to my parents. I don't know much about this specific quilt, but do know that quilts were made for family (Martha and William had 10 children) - and that all the surviving children of my grandmother were given one (my father was one of 11) so there are a lot out there. They were stitched by hand by both my great-grandparents and their youngest daughter Emailine. Thanks again for working on it - it looks great and I feel much better about having it out of the box now that it's been re-edged. Next time I'm visiting the relatives I'll see if I can get my hands on a few more. Teresa

Lisa worked with me to create a framed picture quilt from my late husbands shirts which now hangs in my home and makes me smile every day. She came to my house and the design and concept emerged from our discussions and she sensitively translated those into this unique and personal piece of art.

I had a piece of silk that I wanted to make something of, and decided on a quilt. The process was painless. I knew nothing about quilting when I placed the commission, but Lisa communicated clearly, and laid out options, giving her advice along the way. The end result is what we wanted. The colours of the other fabrics, and the use of buttons, suggested by Lisa, work beautifully and complement our fabric perfectly. The quilt arrived well within the estimated time, and pleasantly less than the estimated cost.

Our requirement was for a quilt to use as a cooler way (in every-way) to sleep under during in the summer months – our duvet being too hot and bulky. We have always admired Lisa’s work and commissioned her to make one for us. It was a great pleasure and fun to work with her from briefing, to choosing fabrics to seeing the finished quilt – and we love the result.

Thank you so much for my beautiful quilts. I was looking for something to do with a few items that belonged to my mum and decided to add the wedding dress she made for me, plus my second wedding dress. I decided that quilts for my children would be a lovely heirloom and also added some other items of clothing and a duvet cover that used to be in their room. Once the fabrics were received and she gave me some ideas it was a smooth process and I was kept updated, it turned out better than I could have hoped. I loved the added surprise bonus that she made bags to hold the quilts from the duvet covers. I know my children will love and treasure these quilts.

Five stars. Lisa did a wonderful job in taking over and completing an unfinished patchwork which my late mother had started. The end result is beautiful and we will treasure it. Lisa was extremely professional and kept me informed on progress throughout with photograph updates and realistic time estimates. The end result is beautiful and gives us great pleasure.

I commissioned Lisa to make two memory quilts for my daughters out of clothes they wore as children. We’re thrilled with them. The finished quilts brought back so many memories for us all and my daughters absolutely love them. They both instantly put them on their beds and my eldest will be taking hers with her when she goes to university this autumn. We love the way Lisa brought together so many different fabrics, textures and colours and were so impressed with how beautifully the quilts are sewn. Lisa is obviously an incredibly skilled quilt maker but she is so much more than that, she brings a personal element to all of her commissions and that is invaluable. I was kept involved from the very start and found the process of building something beautiful, in a time of utter despair, very cathartic and comforting. Dear Lisa, I’m a procrastinator! When making a memory quilt you only get one chance to get it right. Lisa Watson made sure that was the case for me. Her expertise in quilting enabled me to trust her with my memories. She was also a rock in advising me on materials to use eg for backing cloth, wadding, and thread. Thank you Lisa for making this quilt even more special.

I always hoped to have a patchwork quilt made from these much-loved fabrics, but never imagined that it would be so beautiful. Lisa put so much thought and care into creating the pattern, and her amazing skills have brought my memories to life in a truly remarkable way. When it was unfolded across the bed, my husband and I spent a wonderful half-hour remembering holidays and special occasions. One of the cottons brings back thoughts of my closest college friend, sadly no longer here to share the memory, who made me a long skirt in our first year. Another is from my honeymoon dressing-gown, in an original 1970s Laura Ashley material made in Carno, Wales, which I left behind by mistake – we had to drive back across half of Brittany to retrieve it! And the flowery summer dresses remind us of happy holidays with our children. All the family love the quilt, and it’s led my American daughter-in-law to have an interesting conversation with her own mother about a quilt made for her by her grandmother and almost forgotten about until now. We could not be more thrilled, and already have plans for a cot-quilt for our baby grandson.

Hi Lisa, Here’s my quilt in the campervan. It was quite hard to get a photo in the space, but it will certainly be well used and keep me warm. The quilts arrived on Monday - Tuesday was actually my eldest’s birthday (spaceman quilt!) and I gave him his quilt as an extra present. Queue tears of emotion as he LOVED it so much. Then Joseph (tractor quilt) descended into tears as he didn’t have one - when I produced his for him he couldn’t quite cope and sobbed and sobbed because it was “so perfect”. Needless to say we adore them! Have been trying to get their rooms a bit straighter so you can have decent photos - but haven’t quite managed it! Am sorry! But I will forward soon. Even my husband (who hates anything pretty!) thinks they are mega! WHAT a talent you have!!! Am completely over the moon!

We opened it on the morning after the wedding and were unbelievably overwhelmed by such an incredible gift, that was obviously so well thought out and made. We’ve come home this weekend and are currently sat under the quilt! Mum has talked us through the entire process, including the stories behind the patches (some more obvious than others!), as well as the lengthy process you had to go to to source some of the patches! I was determined to find a use for my wedding dress; I couldn't bear the thought of it living in a cupboard for the rest of my life. Thanks to you it will live on as a reminder of our special day. I am absolutely delighted with my beautiful quilt made by Lisa. I was at a loss as to what I should do with my wedding dress and wanted to preserve it in some way. After deciding it should have a new life as a quilt, I contacted Lisa who kindly and patiently explained the process, helping me to decide how it should look. She then spent a lot of time and effort making, what I thought was a rather crazy idea, into a reality. I am really grateful to Lisa for putting up with me but most of all for transforming my poor, neglected dress into a thing of beauty again!!

I asked Lisa to make 3 quilts, one each for our children, using my late husband's shirts. Lisa kept me up to date regularly with the progress & was a delight to work with. Since the day I approached Lisa about a special commission, it's been nothing but an absolute pleasure to work with her. Lisa has guided us through the process of creating some very precious memory quilts and cushions following our father's passing. I found it super easy to work out through conversation and zooms of the room what I wanted from the quilt. This was a process that Lisa led and managed really well. I am also impressed by the way she arranged the strong colours in the shirts to come up with something that is really striking. And her advice on backing and stitching helped me to visualise better what I wanted.

It's always a hard decision what to do with the clothes of a loved one after they have passed away. Especially shirts which have been wore for many years, and which become part of a person's persona are hard to simply recycle. My decision to ask Lisa Watson to turn my husband Steve's shirts and ties into a memory quilt is one of the best solutions I have found to solve this dilemma. It's wonderful now to fall asleep and wake up underneath the warmth of a quilt full of lovely memories. I can not recommend Lisa Watson and her great artistic and technical talent enough. I’ve just received my memory quilt, beautifully presented, lovingly stitched and created by Lisa. The whole process was a pleasure from start to finish, with Lisa suggesting what design might work well. Regular updates kept me informed of Lisa’s progress. Whilst the pictures offered a tantalising glimpse, upon its receipt the sight and feel of the memories within the quilt were tangible... my father’s favourite shirt, the one he wore as he held his first granddaughter, then his second, shirts he wore dancing, each bring a smile as I remember him. Thanks again for the beautiful Quilt, pride of place on mum’s bed. The death of your life partner is devastating, but for Mum, downsizing from the house she had shared with Dad, to a flat for one, was a painful and difficult process. When she gave me a bag of Dad’s old ties that the felt she could not keep, I realised what a strong reflection of his life they were. In the bag were ties from school, university, professional and personal aspects of his life. There were ties that I could clearly remember him wearing to important family events. When I discussed them with Lisa she used her wonderful artistic flair and intricate practical skills to create a true work of art. The quilt is both a psychological and physical comfort and is undoubtedly now a wonderful keepsake and remembrance of my dear departed Dad. Thank you Lisa.

I really can't thank you enough for what you've created. The quilt is absolutely beautiful and the quality and craftsmanship are extraordinary. I knew I loved all of the fabrics individually, but I couldn't quite imagine how so many different patterns and colours could come together as one piece. Somehow you've made them feel completely harmonious, while still allowing all the individual fabrics to have their place. It genuinely feels like a piece of art rather than simply a quilt. I will treasure it for the rest of my life. I also really appreciated how patient you were with me throughout the whole process – particularly through all my indecision over sizes, colours and backing fabrics! I was so nervous about letting go of Stew’s clothes. I needn’t have been. Lisa has created the most beautiful quilt which is full of such wonderful memories and when I wrap myself up in the quilt it’s like being back in Stew’s arms again I'm absolutely thrilled.
